PROFILE OF THE VENERABLE KINGSLEY CHUKWUKAMADU OBUH

The Venerable Kingsley Chukwukamadu Obuh hails from Ubulu-Uku in Aniocha-South Local Government Area of Delta State. He was born to the family of Mr. Godwin N. and Mrs. Patricia N. OBUH (of blessed memory) on Monday, 22nd March, 1976. He attended Ubulu Primary School, Ubulu-Uku from 1983-1988 and St. Anthony’s College, Ubulu-Uku from 1989-1994 before his employment as a Catechist in Ubulu-Uku Parish of Ubulu-Uku Archdeaconry of Asaba Diocese, where he served for two (2) years.

He obtained Diploma in Theology of St. Paul’s University College, Awka (now Paul University, Awka), and Diploma in Religious Studies of University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) in June, 2002. He was made a Deacon on 14th July, 2002 and on 13th July, 2003, was ordained Priest.

He served in Aballa-Unor Parish from September 2002- December 2004 as Vicar/Parish Priest; Immanuel Church, Ogwashi-Uku from January 2005- December 2005 as Curate; St. James Church, Ogwashi-Uku from January 2006- April 2007 as Vicar/Parish Priest, all in Asaba Diocese.

He then proceeded to Uganda Christian University, Mukono, Uganda, for further studies; came back in May 2009 with First Class Honours, Bachelor of Divinity (BD) and also emerged best student of the School of Divinity/Theology in 2009. While in the final year, he was the President of International Students Association.

On return, he was posted to All Saints Church, Issele-Uku as Vicar/Parish Priest where he served till December 2009, when he was preferred Honorary Canon on 14th December, 2009 by His Grace, The Most Rev’d Nicholas D. Okoh, the then Bishop of the Diocese of Asaba, Archbishop of the Ecclesiastical Province of Bendel and later Primate, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion).

In January 2010, he was deployed to Ezekiel College of Theology, Ujoelen-Ekpoma, Edo State, Nigeria to lecture and was appointed Acting Registrar of the institution same year and confirmed substantive Registrar in 2011. He holds a Master Degree of Arts in Religious Studies (majoring in Christian Theology) of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, Nigeria.

In July, 2013, he was transferred from the College to the Church of Nigeria National Secretariat, Abuja where he served as Personal Assistant to the former Primate, His Grace, The Most Rev’d Nicholas D. Okoh, till 25th March, 2020, when the Primate retired. He has also served as Acting General Secretary of the Church of Nigeria from 7th February to 1st November, 2014. He is a member of the GAFCON Panel of Assistants and GAFCON Synodical Council. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy Degree (Ph. D) in Christian Theology at the premier University of Ibadan, Ibadan.

He has served as Priest in the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Life-Camp, Gwarinpa, Abuja; Assistant Vicar of St. Matthew’s Church, Gwarinpa; Vicar of St. Paul’s Church, Apo; pioneer Chaplain of the Chapel of the Resurrection, Episcopal House, Wuye (April, 2018 to October, 2019); and Chaplain of St. Matthias’ Chapel, St. Matthias’ House, Church of Nigeria National Secretariat, Gudu, Abuja (formerly Chapel of the Advent, Primate’s Office, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja) since 2013 till date. He is currently serving as Priest at All Saints’ Church, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja. He was re-appointed Secretary to the present Primate, His Grace, The Most Rev’d Henry C. Ndukuba, on 6th May, 2020, an office he occupied until the 24th February, 2022 (St. Matthias’ Day), when he was elected Bishop of the Diocese of Asaba at the Standing Committee Meeting of the Church of Nigeria which held at All Saints’ Cathedral, Rumuokwurusi and St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Rumuobiokani Deanery, Evo Diocese, Obio, Rivers State.

The Venerable Kingsley C. Obuh is happily married to Mrs. Comfort Nkechiyem Obuh (Nee Okolugbo) and the marriage is blessed with three boys and one girl by names Marvellous, Goodness, Godswill and Prosper. He is a writer, and dynamic teacher and preacher of the word of God. He is the author of the book, “Dynamic Worship: the Secret of Church Growth.”
